How does your dog show you that they love you the most?
  • 02
We often joke that our very friendly dog would go home from the park with ANYONE who gave him a treat.... He's not exactly loyal. But he does a few really subtle little things that let us know that we are his real family: 1. When we pat him on the head he gently closes his eyes. When anyone else tries to pat him on the head he tries to watch/follow their hand. 2. The way he so easily falls asleep in our company, belly up. When anyone else is around he stays awake.

    3. If I go for a quick swim, and tie him up where I can see him, he spends the whole time staring at the pool - no matter who comes up to him or what treats they offer. Can't shake his laser focus. (As soon as I hop out he's back to his usual distracted friendly self) Wondering what little things your dogs do that let you know that they do indeed love you best!

paupaupaupau - 8 days ago This one's a little different. Tia's a retired racing Greyhound. When I first adopted her, she was terrified of other dogs. A small dog walking on the other side of the street was enough for her to tuck tail and pull hard in the opposite direction. Gradually, I socialized her with other dogs and helped build her confidence. She's generally quite good now, though young and rambunctious dogs still give her pause. If she finds another dog overbearing, she does a good job w

warning, and we're exiting the situation by that point. Tia's also generally pretty reserved in her affection- a bit more cat-like- as a lot of Greyhounds tend to be. So that brings me to the incident that melted my heart. We were at the dog park, and there's a young Golden Retriever. He's about what you'd expect from a young Golden that isn't well-socialized yet- overly friendly, rambunctious, and not very good with personal space or boundaries.

This Golden had already bugged Tia a fair amount, and she did well. She was patient and walked away. Her body language showed her discomfort, but there was no escalation when he followed her. Fortunately, he had many other interests to distract him. One of those distractions was me. So this Golden is overstimulated and starts jumping on me. He's obnoxious, but it's not the end of the world. I use my knee to block him and turn away. He continues to try to jump on me and get my attention. His owne

She wiggles her body around when getting settled for cuddles and then face plants her head into a armpit/crevice of my body to hide her nose and eyes so she can snore and fall asleep in bliss 2. kittenwalrus 8 days ago Lavish Labrador I lost my 15-year-old last year but she showed me I was her human by literally always being with me when nothing was going on, giving me never ending kisses, climbing on the side of my ribcage to sleep when I was sleeping, and always coming to me when she was scared. I am disabled so I've never been the one to actively feed her or let her outside but she still chose me out of all the people in my house. I really miss her.
